Keep this quiet at least until Amos or I make an announcement. O'Reilly doesn't want to publish the book and has given Amos and I full rights to do with it what we please. We're gonna print a book. We have four other publishers on the line giving us good feedback, and making offers. Soon as Amos gets back we're making the call on which publisher to use based on the facts in hand and go with it. One of our requirements is that the publisher must keep you involved as tech reviewers with the same deal as O'Reilly, book or stipend. The free book winners will also continue to get their free book, it just won't be an ORA one. Questions? No problem. From the beginning our target audience has been beginners; new users of Zope. When we gave them the first draft manuscript, they said they wanted a more advanced audience and that the book needed a major rewrite, so we decided to explore other options. We're talking with other publisher right now, and we'll keep you posted. -Michel > > Tom. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Michel Pelletier" > To: "Bill Anderson" > Cc: > Sent: Friday, January 19, 2001 12:23 AM > Subject: Re: [Zope-book] Draft Manuscripts? > > > > > > > > On Fri, 5 Jan 2001, Bill Anderson wrote: > > > > > Michael Bernstein wrote: > > > > > > > Bill Anderson wrote: > > > > > > > >> Michel Pelletier wrote: > > > >> > > > >>> On Mon, 11 Dec 2000, Michael Bernstein wrote: > > > >>> > > > >>>> Does this mean that the manuscript will be going out to > > > >>>> O'Reilly soon, so we can expect a package in the mail by > > > >>>> Xmas? :-) What a lovely gift that would make. > > > >>> > > > >>> They've been out for a couple weeks now... sigh. > > > >> > > > >> So about when should we expect them (the drafts)? > > > > > > > > > > > > Did anyone receive an answer to this question? Essentially. We have chosen another publisher that is very excited to print the book, and we will be moving forward *very* quickly starting early next week. We'll keep you posted. -Michel From tseaver at digicool.com Wed Jan 31 10:17:14 2001 From: tseaver at digicool.com (Tres Seaver) Date: Sun Aug 10 16:40:34 2008 Subject: [Zope-book] Re: [Support] [ZOPE Collector] Zope Question entry: Cloning (from the Book) the Book) In-Reply-To: Message-ID: On Wed, 31 Jan 2001 hw@scp.nl wrote: > A new bug entry was added with the following information: > > Title: Cloning (from the Book) > > At: http://classic.zope.org:8080/Collector/Collector/1923/sview > > Submitter: Hans de Wit > > Email: hw@scp.nl > > Description: I hope i can ask you this question, my last one > was rather stupid. Hans, the collector is intended to be a bug tracker. There is a list devoted to the Zope Book; you can sign up for it, and review the archives, at: http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-book I'm CC'ing that list with your query. > In the Zope book chapter 12 there is an example in which an > folder is copied into the current folder using a product and a > factory.
