My xml-documents created with ParsedXML will not accept norwegian characters.
when I try to type in or upload a document with the following declaration:
''
Does not work, ParsedXML will strip it down to:
''
and my norwegian characters such as "æ" will not render,
I encounter similar problems with the product XMLtransform
Any suggestions?

Subject: [Zope-xml] extract elements from xml-documents
Message-ID: <5.1.1.6.0.20021114224531.0257d008@pop.hf.ntnu.no>
I have tons of framemaker-documents converted to xml from which i would
like to extract information inside certain elements.
a portion of the document (english.xml)would typically look like this:
HF2345
what i would like to extract in two separate strings is: "44332" and "HF2345"
How is this best accomplished?
the document does not reside inside zope but is located on another webserver.
Thank you all in advance!

have a a look at Adrian Hungate's XML-kit. Especially the
xml-proxy-product , which i think is exactly what you need...

Hello:
If you use a regular DTMLDocument or PageTemplate for your
XML source, XMLTransform should leave it alone. Why don't you
try that instead of a ParsedXML..

One way is to use XSLT. Learning XSLT might be more
than you bargained for, but it is a standard way to do
such things. Check out the tutorial at

I am using the product XMLKit and its XMLDocument and XMLproxy.
(have tried ParsedXML, but it doesn't seem to display my norwegian
characters and I don't have time to look into that matter).
XMLproxy works just the way i want it.
now, inside this xml there is a few lines i want to extract:
hfmv302
|
What i want from this is:
hfmv302
when i add "emnekode" to the entities to view, nothing happens. However, if
contains data i may extract this by calling at the opening
tag.
I am puzzeled.
First of all i would very much apreciate if somone could point me to any
documentation on XMLKit.
second: if somone understand what i want from the above text, maybe could
tell me if I am on the right track when trying to extract data from the
xml-document.
Are there other ways to do this? how?
Thanks to everyone who have answered my recent postings.
