Hi, I'm building an external method which looks at its parent folders list of DTML documents and publishes it. At first, I thought I could just call the document template, something like: function return(self): toReturn = self.index_html return toReturn(toReturn) This works fine as long as the document has no variables of its own, but if, say default_html_header is referenced, the call barfs. As far as I can tell, the document has acquired nothing. I've been poking around the source code, and I'm really not sure what's going on. Does anyone have a helpful suggestion?

Also, in may cases we use regex in a threadsafe fasion. In the cases where we use regex in a non-threadsafe fasion, we use t_regex, which is our mutex locked wrapper around regex. Another reason is time for conversion. We never got around to converting to re when it was release, mostly because regex worked and we didn't want to shift the underlying sands. If you want to try and make an re pure version of ZPublisher, let us know how it goes. If it's as fast and cleaner, we'll probably use it (after extensive testing, of course ;). Directory layout.

Hi! I've been wondering if there is a standard for INSTANCE_HOME layout? The only thing I've found are IH/var -> Obj. Database. IH/lib/python/Products -> Instance products. (Did the Instance product patch make it into Z2.0?) Philosophing a bit, I'd think that a more organized structure might help, because there exist some categories: *) file based Zope Configuration. At the moment this is only the access file. I'd propose to put Zope generic configuration into IH/etc/ *) file based Product Configuration. To seperate this exactly, I'd propose IH/etc/ProductName/ *) data. Like the object base, gadfly tables, etc. IH/var/ *) runtime information. Like the pid and socket files of pcgi, etc. Either IH/var/ or IH/var/run/ by default. Actually most of this is anyway configured to follow local system administration principles. *) Binaries. Some products may come with helper scripts, this should all land in IH/bin/ (or if the product is installed in the Zope installation, then it should be in ZI/bin/ *hmmm, does this make sense? Shouldn't be all helpers available in the installation home?*) What for file based Product Configuration? For anything dangerous. For example Zope as such stores it root passwd in a file, and makes it explicitly not editable from the web. Another example: SpoolQueues: As they allow arbitrary commands to be executed with the Zope process context, it is not a good thing to allow some of your customers to enter the commands. Much better to have the queue definition (containing all the commands needed for queue management) in an external file. (You can't really edit it easily without a direct view of the server filesystem. And you may need to write helper scripts to do the exact task you want them to do.) Accessing Gadfly via External Method

Well, I have another problem with EM (external method). I can run my code normally when I was in the shell but when I tried to accecss it thru a DTML Method via a EM I got Attribute error. Here's an example:- This is my python file (policy.py) in the Extensions dir. #!/usr/local/bin/python def ViewAll(): import gadfly connection = gadfly.gadfly("policy", "/usr/local/src/Zope-2.0.0a1-src/Extensions/Policy") <<<<-- error here cursor = connection.cursor() cursor.execute("select * from policy") recs = cursor.fetchall() connection.close() return recs External Method: id : ViewAll, function: ViewAll, Module: policy <-- fine over here DTML Method:  =====> Attribute Error on the connection line. DT_Var, DT_Util questions.

Reading over DT_Var, I've noticed the following: # The rest are depricated: 'sql-quote': sql_quote, 'html-quote': html_quote, So how do I express the meaning of  without the html_quote subtag? I'm asking this, because I'm currently developing a generalised Spooling mechanism, and because of the intended usage, I planned to produce something like this:  \documentclass[a4paper]{dinbrief} \usepackage{mtgbrief} \begin{document} \date{} \begin{letter}{ \\ ...  Ok, so the tex_quote format should be probably declared in a seperate package, because people who don't spool LaTeX documents don't need it, but what is the correct way to provide this functionality? - --- - Another question, what is the correct way to parse any argument type with DT_Util.parse_params? (Or what other function to use?) Thanks pal. Anyway, I still failed to create a table. My SQL stmt is "CREATE TABLE policy (id varchar, status varchar)" and the error I get is Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. exceptions.AttributeError Sorry, a Zope error occurred. But does Gadfly work in 2.0? I know for a fact it doesn't work in 1.11.0pr1, and the error you cite is the exact same error I get using the latter version.
