ah, ok, now i understand. at the time (at the PIKtipi sprint)  
easy_install of python-memcached did *not* work, which was the whole  
reason for me to make the change...

well, basically, i just used a pedestrian approach of trial&error  
which would let me install lovely.memcached as an egg in order to  
incorporate it as a simple dependency in the project i was trying it  
out with. i briefly discussed it with Bernd Dorn before committing  
it, but apparently too briefly...

at any rate, i've reversed my changes and i'm sorry for the  
inconvenience they may have caused.
