Heh.  I'd actually rather you just call it 3.0.0; integers are cheap
to increment
if a fix is needed.

I'm increasingly against complexity in version numbers, especially for the sort
of "judgement call" semantics associated with alpha/beta labeling.  The API
compatibility semantics from semver seem sufficient to me.
