Hi there,

We have a willing and able student to work on making Zope 3 components
work on top of Jython, *and* Frank Wierzbicki, recently hired by Apple
to work on Jython full-time, willing to be primary mentor for this
student. The Jython project is also willing to use one of *their*
slots with the Summer of Code for this work. Frank just asked me for a
backup-mentor from the Zope side. He believes the proposal's chances
will increase if we make a strong showing of support from our end, and
I agree. We owe it anyway, and it fits with our backup-mentor plans
anyway concerning our own projects.

So, who is willing to be the Jython/Zope backup mentor? If you're
interested, please drop me an email and I'll get you in touch with
Frank Wierzbicki. He wants you to sign up with the Summer of Code too
as a mentor for the PSF project (I think Jython's part of this), but
we'll work that out.

Requirements:

* knowledge of the internals of Zope 3 components

* some affinity with porting to different Python versions.

* enough time to help as a backup-mentor. This primarily you need to
be there to answer questions on Zope quickly, and probably be in a few
(online) meetings with the primary mentor and student. If you can't
answer the question yourself, you know how to drag the answer out of
the Zope community by asking others. You'll also have to report to me
how you're doing on a regular basis (like all students, other mentors
and backup-mentors).

* (not required) Jython experience

Regards,

Martijn
