Information Application Developer

Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) has an immediate need for a Sr
Information Application Developer to design, develop, and maintain World
Wide Web, database and other information systems.  Using the
Python-based Zope Web publishing environment, we have developed new ways
to capture, find and distribute information to internal and external
users.

Excellent opportunity to become a part of the dynamic STScI team!  ST
ScI manages the science operations of the Hubble Space Telescope, which
has brought us never-before-seen pictures and information about the
universe, and has been identified to play a similar role in the Next
Generation Space Telescope Program (NGST).  You can join this

knowledge of the universe.

Qualified candidates should possess the following:

   * A  minimum of two years experience in developing information
     applications.  A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer
     Science, or related field is required; Master’s degree is
     preferred
   * Highly skilled in problem diagnosis and resolution, including the
     ability to find root causes of problems and identify effective
     solutions
   * In-depth knowledge of information systems, including the World Wide
     Web and databases, web server technologies (i.e. Apache, IIS), web
     publishing environments (i.e. Zope), information tools (i.e HTML,
     XML), web authoring tools and software development
     methodology/tools and high-level programming languages, including
     object-oriented and scripting languages
   * Ability to plan and execute within schedule and other projects
     involving several people
   * Excellent communication and customer service skills with the
     ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

ST ScI, located on the Johns Hopkins Homewood University campus, offers
an excellent benefits package, including 24 vacation days, competitive
salaries, and a stimulating work environment.  Relocation assistance is
available.  The minimum salary for the Info App Dev is $42,200; the Sr
Info App Dev minimum salary is $48,700.  However, ST ScI’s pay is
commensurate to the education level and years of experience.  Resumes
