Tell you what:  we created the problem, so you can solve it <wink>.  Revert
those to a state you're happy with again, and Jeremy and I will find the
(probably just a handful of) 3.2 branch changes we actually needed to make.
This plan was inspired by seeing the other email about Zope startup being
plain busted on the 2.7 branch now, thanks to these mostly unintended
changes.
