Summarizing the mail and list contributions:

1. At present there is no way of customizing the DemoPortal without
losing the ability to import an updated DemoPortal.zexp

2. The simplest way of creating a custom portal is to modify the sources
in PTKDemo and the DTML methods in the DemoPortal product. After that
you can manually merge in updates of the sources in PTKDemo and you can
not use an updated DemoPortal

3. Another option is only to use the functionality provided by PTKBase.
To get a flying start it would be fine to be able to make a copy of both
DemoPortal and PTKDemo. But how to get around the name conflicts?
