Have you read Paul Everitt's intro to STX? You'll find it at
http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Articles/STX

If I understand you correctly, the short answer to creating a block of code
with STX (equivalent to the <pre> tag) is to use '::'. For example,

The following text will be program code::

  def hello():
      return "Hello world"
