[Zope-CMF] installing topics from python

I'm installing lots of CMF sites dynamically, from python.  I need to
have topics installed, too, but unfortunately, the topics setup is via
an external method.

Is there a better way to do this than copying the code from
CMFTopics/Extensions/Update.py?

Would you CMF developers consider making CMFTopic/Extensions into a
Python package (i.e. add an __init__.py) so it could be imported from
python?  Or will Update.py not be around long enough to make this
worthwhile?
