[Zope-CMF] portal_metadata bug?

thank you for the quick reply.
i thought of the same thing, but i can not find it. do you know how to find
out where this attribute might be defined?
as far as i know one of my collegues typed in the string for the first
object he created and since it is always the default for any new object.
doing the search in root folder did not turn up with any results.
as much as i could find out is that the 'subject' variable is in the
namespace above REQUEST. also i did find out that it is not defined in the
rootfolder but only in our portal below the root.
today i did find out that changing the subject field in the metadata edit to
a multiple list instead of an area gave the possibility to predefine
defaults via the portal_metadatatool. bad only that for our purpose we need
a textareafield for the subject.
sorry for this overload of maybe useless information, but maybe this gives
you the idea of what the problem might be
