[Zope-CMF] DCWorkflow, Permissions, moving Content around?

Upgrading a CMF instance (which can be a huge pain if you have lots of stuff
inside of custom folder) and ran across something I forgot about --
seemingly when you copy/paste these objects they lose their 'workflow'
status.

* copy and pasted my CMF instance
* fixed the portal_skins in the new copy

now the new copy of CMF, for whatever reason.. lost all workflow states for
all the objects they are now back at their initial settings.  this is with
the latest CVS of DCWorkflow installed on the machine.

any ideas?
