I fixed the import in the active ZODB svn branches 3.6, 3.5, 3.4. I looked into the zope-2.7-branch in cvs, but there the old get_transaction() is used, which was in __builtin__.

I agree it should be fixed, but unassigned myself (no time for it; if someone else has time, the current active ZODBs are (SVN) the trunk, and the 3.4, 3.5 and 3.6 branches; and (CVS) the Zope-2_7-branch branch).  No idea whether anyone uses transact.py, so "safer" to fix it than to remove it.

Yep, it's been busted since 2004-04-16.  We should either: apply the
attached patch to all "current" ZODB versions, or else remove the
module altogether.

in ZODB/transact.py is the import of 'transaction' missing.
