Maybe it's a type problem with it not bringing back the whole result set.
Try having the select as iditem:int, or set the [ALL] option to be null
rather than zero and just test for <dtml-if iditem>.

For the Next 20 problem, how are you doing the next 20 link?

I know this does work, I do it all the time.
