Ok I'll keep that in mind.  Maybe as Charlie said, it has to do with ZEO 
and I need to benchmark against ZEO and non-ZEO.

I'll definitely look at the Zope Profiler thanks - last time I applied 
basic python profiling to Zope, it wouldn't go down into the Product 
level, which is where I needed to be looking.
