This behavior so startled me that I installed a fresh copy of 2.1.4 and
verified that it doesn't work in a clean installation.

On my system, I have:

  / root folder
  |
  |-- icon.gif (Image)
  |
  |-- display (DTML Document)
  |
  |-- abc (Folder)

Where "display" is simply:

   <dtml-var standard_html_header>
   <dtml-var logo.gif>
   <dtml-var standard_html_footer>

Now, http://mysystem.com/display works fine, displaying the logo, while
http://mysystem.com/abc/display gives an AttributeError for __call__:

Should I report this in the collector? Or is this not supposed to work?

Thanks,

Andrew
