I can't keep that in mind because I came to the Zope mailing list
after that discussion took place. Again, my immediate impression
seeing the mailing list zope-dev is that it is for the developers of
new versions of Zope, not that it is for advanced users trying to do
non-trivial or "technical" things with Zope. Every project I can think
of follows that convention for naming its mailing lists.

If you do nothing else, rename zope-dev to something like
zope-advanced if that's the kind of use you intend for that list.
You can't count on people following the consensus of an argument that
took place before we arrived.

And if the people involved in that argument are all gone, why should
we be chained to their decisions?
