Have a look at "ZopeFind" and the property API.

"ZopeFind" is the magic behind Zope's "find" support.
It can search a complete subtree and return the list
of objects satisfying several criteria.

The property API allows you to test for a property.
I think, you can ask for the list of properties, too.
