I do not understand your question...

Nevertheless, I think I can answer "no":

  There is an easy workaround for the described "FileUpload" bug:
  check "file.filename" instead of "file".

  Thus, there is no reason for separation (of anything) when
  you do not want to separate (for other reasons).
