FYI, Jim says that the fix in 2.3.1 b1 isn't quite right - I 
hope to get him to fix the fix when he gets back into town on
Monday. I will contact some of the folks having subtransaction 
problems directly and see if they can verify the final fix before
we make 2.3.1 final.
