Can't help you with the OpenOffice thing, but if you need charts check into the "GDChart" library at http://www.fred.net/brv/chart/. It has both Perl and Python bindings (in addition to its C API) and works quite well. It seems like I saw a Zope Product for it, but I'm not sure. --Derek
