do you mean shared zope hosting? if so, then this is usually the cheapest
option and gives you a minimum of control. you can run your zope site but
your can not decide when to pack the zodb, restart or what products to add
or remove.

This gives you control and responsibility over everything, more than just
your zope. so you have extra work here if all you want to do is work on
zope.

another option is your own zope instance with SSH access without the virtual
server. This gives you control over your zope without having to worry about
the OS.
