Well there's always a way to hack it in using structure, like in:

    <tr>
      <tal:block repeat="item mydatalist">
      <td tal:content="item/title_or_id">Title</td>
      <div tal:condition="python:repeat['item'].index % 4 == 3"
           tal:replace="structure string:</tr><tr>" />
      </tal:block>
    </tr>
  </table>
