I understand some editors support WebDav directly (especially on
Windows?) but for Linux there is a package that allows you to access
a WebDav site as a filesystem.  You need a kernel patch (which I
don't have installed, so I haven't tried it yet).  I think it's hosted on
SourceForge, but I've forgotten the name of the package.  I believe
the kernel patch is for "coda support" (IIRC).

Nope, Zope starts HTTP, FTP, and WebDav servers by default.
