[Zope] versioning application

I am wondering if anyone is using zope as versioning repository. We have a
group of researchers that need some kind of version control system. The need
to control versions of data sets, and office documents.

I was wondering if anyone had implemented some a version control system in
zope, cmf, or plone -- and was using webDAV to access the files.
