The problem is, as Julien noted in earlier emails, that this is not
true.  "python2.3" is specifically referenced elsewhere.  I told
Julien that this change was acceptable in that conversation given that
the tree was essentially broken (inconsistent) until we cam up with a
good way to specify what version of Python should be used.

We still need to come up with a good way to deal with this, but
keeping the tree in an inconsistent state is a bad thing.
