It was my fault as usual.  I thought 'someone' was just an oblique way
of spelling 'Jeremy'.  It seems that the version of gcc 3.0 that I
have on my home machine accepted the code without complaint.  I was
in the midst of a big cleanup of the cache code, so I wasn't very
thorough about reviewing the checkin.  As the checkins list shows
today, Barry and I made a bunch more checkins today.
