First, let me apologize for posting this so late. I had been hoping
to get Paul, Jim or another super-Zoper to come but they're
understandably too busy. Guido suggested I post here and he said
he'd help me choose among the respondents, assuming we get any.

Martin Fowler and I have been hosting an invitational summit for
the last two years in Crested Butte, Colorado. The first two years
the subject was focused on J2EE, but this year we decided to expand
to Enterprise Architectures in general. Naturally, I'd like to see
Zope3 represented among the participants, so if possible at this
late date we'd like to have one or two Zope3 experts attending.

The attendees are of a very high caliber, including book authors
and (for example) the designer of EJBs from Sun, also the creator
of JBoss, and other experts. So the discussions tend to be
exceptional. We try to capture the best of the hallway
conversations that you get at a good conference, but just those,
none of the tedious other things :-). It's not only very
intellectually stimulating, but fun as well.

Here's the official blurb. If you're interested and can be there to
represent Zope3, please respond to me and we can try to sort things
out.

Martin Fowler and I have been hosting an invitational summit for
the last couple of years in Crested Butte. It was previously just
J2EE, but has now expanded to cover other technologies such as
.NET, the other app servers, etc. I think you'll get a great deal
out of it because the caliber of people we've been drawing has been
great -- authors of books on the subject, leaders in
implementations, and the first year Sun's lead architect for EJBs,
Mark Hapner, attended and really enjoyed it. Last year we had
numerous comments to the effect of "The best event of this kind
that I've ever experienced."

Here is the invitation letter that Martin has been sending out:

I've spoken to all you about the Crested Butte retreat on Aug
20-22. I've finally got around to sending out invitations, which
this note is an instance of.

It's a short retreat for people who are experienced in building
enterprise software to discuss and share experiences. In previous
years it's been focused on J2EE technologies, but this year we're
opening it up to anybody involved in doing this stuff. But we still
want to keep it concentrated on those that have a lot of practical
experience in this kind of software, so everyone is expected to
contribute a lot as well as pick some useful tips and contacts.

The whole thing is very informal. If you want to come, please email
me and Bruce. We will charge a small fee to cover costs this year
($100). All accomodation etc. is up to you, (See link at the top of
this page for lodging and travel information). We meet Tuesday
through Thursday usually with a Monday evening get together of some
sort, and a Thursday night farewell. Please try to ensure you can
be here all three days (one guy made himself very unpopular by
staying only Tuesday morning).

We usually figure out the agenda on the first morning, but we also
do some prep discussion on a mailing list which Bruce will add you
to once you say you want to come along. This year will probably be
bigger than previous years, we aren't quite sure how to handle
that, but I'm sure we'll figure it out (it's an ongoing experiment,
after all). The usual format is to have semi formal discussion
sessions in the morning, a hike in the afternoon (which usually
involves more geek-talk) and some more semi-formal stuff in late
afternoon before dinner.

I hope you can join us.

Martin
