you cut out the rest of my email which i think was relevant... ie

"best specification is left in the hands of the developers or slipping through 
that into the hands of the default."

so this approach gives the flexibiltiy to developers to do what they need to 
do. BUT,  you can use some default adapter for your objects, that does what 
you want it to do, without explictly defining one for each of your content 
types.
