As you may know, Infrae is hosting a five-day development event in Rotterdam
December 2-6. The purpose of this event is to make a lot of initial progress
on the Zope 3 content-management support.

We are calling this a sprintathon because, lengthwise, it falls somewhere
between a sprint and a marathon. Note, however, that unlike most sprints,
the goal of this event is getting stuff done rather than providing education.
Participants should be familiar with Zope 3 concepts before coming to the event.
We will go over the tutorial, but only very quickly as a refresher.

See: http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Projects/ComponentArchitecture/InfraeSprintathon

The projects to be worked on include:

- Workflow (led by Vincenzo Di Somma and Florent Guillaume)

- Searching (led by Steve Alexander)

I'm counting on some significant discussion on these topics on this list
and documentation of decisions before the event.

It looks like we will have a lot of attendees, which is great. I doubt
that we have room for more, but Kit or Martijn are welcomed to contradict
me if I'm wrong.

We can probably work on two or three more projects at the event. If there's
something that you think we need to do sooner rather than later *and* you
have time to contribute ideas, use cases, or design ideas, then please let
us know here.

One topic that I think we need to come to terms with is the notion of "content
type". What is it? How does it relate to interfaces? How is it used? I'm particularly
interested in how the CMF's portal type will be interpreted for Zope 3.

I strongly encourage your input on this important effort.

Jim
