You're not "getting it" *because* it's hard to understand how things are
structured :-)

One thing to bear in mind is that there are currently two ways of
"registering" things - from a "configure" tab, or from the
"configuration manager".  Where it makes sense (95% of the time), the
idea is to move all "registration" to a tab on the object, rather than
sitting in a big puddle inside the configuration manager.

What makes things more confusing is that only some services are set up
like that at the moment!
