Exactly as much as you have in doing the work <wink>.

After it crashes, get a stack trace, and mail it.  The cause will be obvious
or it won't.  Most horrible things that happen as the result of hitting a
key at a prompt turn out to be excruciating bugs in GNU readline, and I
won't spend time chasing one of those.  But chasing down excruciating bugs
in Python is my idea of vacation <wink>.
