One way to really make this point clear is to do like Mozilla and make a 
Zope.org foundation.  The companies and people that depend on Zope are 
members.  I've been researching this lately, and it seems the be the 
pattern for big open source projects (Apache, Mozilla, GNOME, Python, 
Jabber, etc.)  I think Zope should aspire to be in that group. :^)

Zope.org would then become commonly owned by a group that included 
competitors who bid against each other on contracts (ZC with their 
commercial CMS, Infrae with Silva, Plone Foundation with Plone, Nuxeo 
with CPS, etc.).  Zope.org would then be more equal, would possibly have 
more involvement, and would possibly be less of an expense for ZC.

There are likely some practical obstacles.  But in the abstract, such a 
step would appear to be a normal part of Zope's growth.  Not sure, 
though, if the level of interest would match the level of work.
