SchoolBell 1.0 was released on 15 March 2005.

SchoolBell is a calendaring web application created as part of the
SchoolTool project. It is a calendaring server for groups and
organizations. It allows the users to manage their calendars, access
them through the web or an iCalendar client, and see the calendars of
other people and groups in a single overlayed calendar view.
SchoolBell 1.0 has a fine-grained security infrastructure that lets
the administrator set up various levels of access to particular
calendars for individual users.

The SchoolBell 1.0 is the first release that is fully based on Zope 3.
It can be used as a content component in a Zope 3 system, or run as
a stand-alone server employing a customized Zope 3 configuration.

For Zope 3 programmers SchoolBell offers reusable libraries which
process iCalendar files (RFC 2445) and manage many-to-many
relationships. Also, SchoolBell provides calendar objects and views
for them which can be easily reused in other Zope 3 applications.

SchoolBell 1.0 is still work in progress. Much more calendaring
features are expected in the next release. After that, the focus will
shift to the school-specific functionality of SchoolTool.

SchoolBell is copyrighted by the Shuttleworth Foundation, is licenced
under GNU GPL, however, other licencing options are possible.
