Programmer in Bioinformatics

A 3-year full-time position as programmer is available at Unifob AS,
Bergen Center for Computational Science (BCCS), within the Computational
Biology Unit (CBU).

The ideal candidate has a master in informatics or bioinformatics, and
has extensive programming experience. Experience in Python,
bioinformatics, different operating systems, knowledge of databases and
web programming will be considered major strengths. We expect enthusiasm
and independence as well as the ability to work in an interdisciplinary
team environment. Good knowledge of English is required.

BCCS employs approximately 50 employees counting more than 17 different
nationalities. CBU conducts competitive bioinformatics research and
expands the interface between bioinformatics and experimental biological
and biomedical research. CBU is closely linked and co-located with
bioinformatics groups at the University of Bergen. The programmer will
work in the CBU service group. The service group is connected to the
FUGE bioinformatics platform of the Research Council of Norway. It
provides bioinformatics services to Norwegian researchers, particularly
within the fields of molecular biology, biochemistry, biomedicine, and
microbiology. Services offered by the group include bioinformatics
consultancy, data analysis and software development. The group currently
consists of two scientists and one programmer. Python is the primary
programming language used by the service group, and Zope3 is used as the
main platform for developing web applications.

Unifob AS has employee pension and insurance agreement. The successful
