Barry and John,

I think we need to get John's files and some history so we can give
them to SleepyCat and get some explanation of how the files might 
have gotten this way and how we should recover them.

In general, if we have any weirdness like this, we need to make sure 
we keep the files in tact and assemble enough information to allow
SleepyCat to diagnose the problem.
