Good suggestion.  The OMG security specifications are at 

http://www.omg.org/technology/documents/formal/omg_security.htm

They are free and can be downloaded as PDF.  The ZODB community 
(and Python community in general) should probably avoid 
re-inventing these specifications.  (A distributed object security 
architecture should be applicable to both persistent and 
non-persistent objects, so security services for ZODB or ZEO 
need to be consistent with CORBA security anyway, unless one is 
operating in a "Python island" ... ;^)
