[Zope-Perl] Solaris 8 Install Problem

I'm having trouble installing the perlpy modules:

I'm using ActiveState Perl, GCC 2.95.3, and the Zope Python distribution.  I 
get the following error when I run python setup.py install:

ld: fatal: relocations remain against allocatable but non-writable sections
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1
